Dear Colleagues,

Among the conferences our industry most looks forward to each year is the IADC/SPE International Drilling Conference and Exhibition, where unrivaled technical content is combined with the opportunity to network and explore drilling trends and innovations. In 2024, this conference is returning to Galveston Texas, and we look forward to seeing all of you there, and hosting you, Texas style!

Our industry is ready to embrace an upcycle after years of contraction in a down market. The 2024 conference will help us to navigate the ongoing marketplace shift toward a season of disciplined growth as we responsibly reactivate assets across our industry to meet the world's growing energy needs. The IADC/SPE International Drilling Conference and Exhibition should be on every industry professional/s "must attend" list for 2024.

The value proposition is clear:

  • This is the conference where the world's premier drilling experts and industry leaders gather to share best practices and to learn more about the innovations, technologies, and strategies that will help us safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively deliver energy for generations to come. Next year's agenda will include everything from 20K HPHT offshore operations, drilling efficiency, automation and robotics to digitalization, fuel and energy efficiency, reducing emissions, and adjacent opportunities that leverage industry skill and experience to be at the forefront of a lower-carbon energy mix. These topics, and everything in between reflect our industry's pioneering spirit and commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Beyond the exciting new technologies, reactivations and human capital will top the conference’s agenda and related discussions, setting the theme for this year's event as Performance Future: Elevating Drilling Through People and Technology.  Over the past few years, we’ve learned to use technology to communicate and collaborate in ways that open new opportunities for people to join our industry. As we take full advantage of this upcycle, we will need to embrace those technologies to quickly and effectively onboard and train new employees to meet the staffing needs of new or reactivated worksites and the general need for increased bench strength to meet increasing demand. This will take planning and policy updates to attract and retain talent and incentivize great performance across our organizations. It is undeniable that the drilling business is changing in exciting ways and the future is bright for those who are perpetual learners and interested in being part of a dynamic, challenging, and innovative industry.

And as we move into an era of energy expansion, our industry recognizes oil and gas will continue to be important to providing reliable energy for a growing global population. The 2024 IADC/SPE International Drilling Conference and Exhibition allows us, as an industry, to learn about the technology needed to propel our industry forward and how to attract new talent and funding to support the key role energy plays within national and global economies.

Please join us in 2024 as we gather on Galveston Island to network and explore key drilling trends and innovations.

Hope to see y’all there!
